From Ferguson to Portland: Stop the Police Killing of Black and Poor People

On August 9, a white police officer in the St. Louis suburb of Ferguson, Missouri shot and killed an unarmed black teenager, Michael Brown. Accounts by police and witnesses differ as to how it happened. Ferguson police said that Officer Darren Wilson shot and killed Brown after Brown attacked him in his cruiser. Witnesses at the scene said that Brown was attacked by Wilson and had his hands up in surrender as he was shot.
